Alarm Function
Each time the unit turns on, an automatic test sequence initiates. So, this is to verify that the visual display and the audible alarms are functional. The device is set to raise alarms when any kind of malfunction occurs. An alarm may activate if the temperature probe fails or there are erratic changes in the infant’s temperature. The conditions may be as the following:
Setpoint (High)
A high setpoint alarm will occur if the set temperature sensed by the skin probe is 0.5 degrees above the setpoint. This alarm will occur after a delay of 10 seconds. The alarm will be audible as well as visual. Thus, audible alarm will silence by pressing the alarm mute switch on the front panel. However, the visual indicator will continue. If the condition is not corrected within 20 seconds, the audible alarm will resume.
Setpoint (Low)
A low setpoint alarm will occur if the set temperature sensed by the skin probe is 0.5 degrees less than the setpoint. This alarm will occur after a delay of 10 seconds.
Probe failure
During the Servo Control Mode, an alarm will raise if the temperature probe:
- Fails
- Is Open
- Short
- Lastly, Un-Plugged
The temperature of the baby will display on the front panel of the device and also the heater will turn off. This alarm cannot be silenced until the correction of the alarm condition.
